Jakarta - Until now Indonesia sand smuggling to Singapore is still happening
Riau Islands Customs caught the smuggling of 5,000 metric tons Indonesian
sand.
According to the Customs Office of Riau Islands, which quoted from the
Ministry of Finance website, Friday (02/03/2012), smuggling was failed to
happen on Thursday (2/2/2012) in international waters between Nongsa
Indonesia and Changi, Singapore.
At that time, 9004 BC Patrol Boats on patrol with the purpose to Singapore
managed to capture the Tugboat Sea Glory 8 (Singapore-flagged) are towing
the barge Victory 19 (Singapore-flagged) from Kijang, Bintan,Indonesia to
Singapore.
State losses due to acts of smuggling is estimated to reach Rp 1.05 billion
and immaterial losses in the form of environmental and natural ecosystems.
Mode is performed without a document to export, transport without manifests
and loading of export goods without permission. Accordance with Article 102A
of Act No. 17 of 2006 concerning Amendment to Law Number10 Year 1995 on
Customs, exports of goods without giving notice of the customs, loading of
export goods outside the customs area without the permission of Customs and
Excise officials, transporting export goodswithout a protected document
valid, shall be punished by imprisonment for 1 year, maximum imprisonment of
10 years and a fine of Rp 50 million and a maximum of Rp 5 billion.
Currently, ships, cargo, the captain and six crew (ABK) has been detained to
the Regional Office of Special DJBC Kepri in Tanjung Balai Karimun for
further investigation.
